OCEC Continues Its Commitment To Developing Omani Youth Through ICCA Future Leaders Council Participation

News

OCEC, Paris, France 28 October 2021

Continuing their ongoing commitment to developing and empowering Omani youth within the Sultanate, Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre were proud to have one of their team participate at the 2021 edition of the prestigious International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) congress.

Held from 24 – 27 October, this year’s ICCA congress went ahead under the theme Forward to our Future, and Oman’s premier events venue was honored to have Mariya Al Hashar – OCEC’s Senior Business Development Executive – nominated as a Middle East representative for the congress’s Future Leaders Council session.

Mariya represented OCEC at the congress’s Paris Hub, which was one of multiple hubs linked to the main event in Cartagena, Colombia.

As a dynamic, progressive event, the Future Leaders Council served to shed light on how the world’s “leaders of tomorrow” can extend their influence to make a lasting impact in the industry.

OCEC were proud to have Mariya Al Hashar showcase Oman positively on the international stage – and to represent OCEC’s commitment to nurturing and developing young Omani talent within the Sultanate.

According to Said Al Shanfari, CEO – OCEC, “Our participation at this year’s ICCA Congress reflects OCEC’s commitment and vision – over the long term – to empowering the youth of Oman. The Omani youth represent the future of the nation: They are our future decision makers and future industry leaders. In supporting the individual development of young Omanis today, OCEC can ensure they are competent and qualified to lead the Sultanate to a brighter, and more prosperous future.”

“In addition, as our young Omani talents enjoy more exposure at international events like the ICCA Congress, they gain experience in building and developing foreign relationships – which is a significant part of our industry,” Said Al Shanfari added.

Speaking about her attendance, Mariya explained: “It was an incredible honor to represent both the OCEC and the Sultanate of Oman at this important international congress. The Future Leaders Council was of particular importance, as it served as a platform to discuss and redefine social sustainability through the eyes of young event professionals – which aligns closely with OCEC’s own commitment to developing the talents of Omani youth.”

OCEC’s representation at this year’s ICCA congress was also significant because it showcased that the OCEC and Oman are now ready and willing to welcome back the world’s events-tourism sector after having to suspend nearly all international events following the outbreak of the global COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020.
